THE BIRTH OF LABOR IN LOVE

Edited Image 2015-8-3-16:51:23

I have always had a love for pregnancy, childbirth and everything birth related for as long as I can remember. I have always in awe of women who were with child and was fascinated by the body's inherent ability to create life.

My real passion for birth work began when I was sixteen and helped co-teach my first childbirth education class. Soon after that I read both InaMae Gaskin's Spiritual Midwifery and Pam England's Birthing From Within. I was hooked.

During my undergraduate studies, I had the privilege to apprentice under a midwife in Arizona, and I also decided to become a massage therapist so I could learn pregnancy massage. Becoming a Doula provided the perfect opportunity to utilize all the skills I had learned during my journey and exploration of pregnancy, labor and birth!

I see pregnancy, birth, and the growth of a family as one of the most beautiful things about humanity. As a Doula, I am privileged to help women and their partners make these experiences as positive and healthy as possible. And it’s never surprising to me when another scientific paper proves the positive impact a doula can have on the mother and family.

I am proud to offer care to women and families across the East End.
